Summer Reading Program
Promoting reading for all ages
The Summer Reading Program is a major focus for the fundraising done each year by the Friends. The theme of this summer’s 2024 Summer Reading Program is Adventure Begins At Your Library and it ran from June 17 – August 9, 2024. Spiderman and Bluey visited on Kick-Off Day (June 14). The program was run primarily through the Beanstack application, but people could also participate using a paper copy of the Challenge that was available at the library. The program was open to children and adults, and prizes for kids, teens, and adults were available.

There were 745 registered participants this year (up from 551 in 2023), The participants ranged from Babies and Pre-K to Adult. People logged 12,473 hours of reading logged on Beanstack and on paper.
The closing party was held on August 9 from 2:00 to 3:00 pm. Free water was provided by Rita’s Warrington. It was a great way to spend the afternoon and finish up the Summer Reading Challenge! And in the end, prizes were awarded to 12 lucky winners. This year’s grand prize is a Nintendo Switch Lite – a hand-held video game console.
